Pero normalmente la palabra \"materiales magn\u00e9ticos\" se usa solo para materiales ferromagn\u00e9ticos (descripci\u00f3n abajo), sin embargo, los materiales pueden clasificarse en las siguientes categor\u00edas seg\u00fan las propiedades magn\u00e9ticas que muestren. Los dos tipos m\u00e1s comunes de magnetismo son el diamagnetismo y el paramagnetismo, que representan la mayor parte de la tabla peri\u00f3dica de los elementos a temperatura ambiente. Estos elementos suelen referirse como no magn\u00e9ticos, mientras que aquellos que se consideran magn\u00e9ticos en realidad se clasifican como ferromagn\u00e9ticos. Por ejemplo: aluminio, esta\u00f1o, magnesio, etc. Su permeabilidad relativa es peque\u00f1a pero positiva. Por ejemplo: la permeabilidad del aluminio es: 1.00000065. Se magnetizan ligeramente cuando se colocan en un campo magn\u00e9tico muy fuerte y act\u00faan en la direcci\u00f3n opuesta a la del campo magn\u00e9tico aplicado.<\/p>\n<p>En los materiales diamagn\u00e9ticos, los dos campos magn\u00e9ticos relativamente d\u00e9biles causados por la revoluci\u00f3n orbital y la rotaci\u00f3n axial de los electrones alrededor del n\u00facleo est\u00e1n en direcciones opuestas y se cancelan entre s\u00ed. No existen dipolos magn\u00e9ticos permanentes en ellos, los materiales diamagn\u00e9ticos tienen muy pocas o ninguna aplicaci\u00f3n en ingenier\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica.<\/p>\n<p>En un material diamagn\u00e9tico, los \u00e1tomos no tienen momento magn\u00e9tico neto cuando no hay un campo aplicado. Bajo la influencia de un campo aplicado (H), los electrones que giran precesan y este movimiento, que es un tipo de corriente el\u00e9ctrica, produce una magnetizaci\u00f3n (M) en la direcci\u00f3n opuesta a la del campo aplicado. Todos los materiales tienen un efecto diamagn\u00e9tico, sin embargo, a menudo el efecto diamagn\u00e9tico est\u00e1 enmascarado por el t\u00e9rmino paramagn\u00e9tico o ferromagn\u00e9tico m\u00e1s grande. Materiales ferromagn\u00e9ticos<\/strong><\/h2><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-5\"><p>Los materiales que son fuertemente atra\u00eddos por un campo magn\u00e9tico o im\u00e1n se conocen como materiales ferromagn\u00e9ticos, por ejemplo: hierro, acero, n\u00edquel, cobalto, etc. La permeabilidad de estos materiales es muy, muy alta (rango de varias centenas o miles).<\/p>\n<p>Los efectos magn\u00e9ticos opuestos del movimiento orbital del electr\u00f3n y del esp\u00edn del electr\u00f3n no se eliminan mutuamente en un \u00e1tomo de dicho material. Hay una contribuci\u00f3n relativamente grande de cada \u00e1tomo que ayuda a establecer un campo magn\u00e9tico interno, de modo que cuando el material se coloca en un campo magn\u00e9tico, su valor se incrementa muchas veces respecto al valor que ten\u00eda en el espacio libre antes de que el material fuera colocado all\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p>Para fines de ingenier\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica, ser\u00e1 suficiente clasificar los materiales simplemente como materiales ferromagn\u00e9ticos y no ferromagn\u00e9ticos. Estos \u00faltimos incluyen materiales con permeabilidad relativa pr\u00e1cticamente igual a la unidad, mientras que los primeros tienen una permeabilidad relativa muchas veces mayor que la unidad. Los materiales paramagn\u00e9ticos y diamagn\u00e9ticos pertenecen a los materiales no ferromagn\u00e9ticos.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.1 Materiales ferromagn\u00e9ticos blandos<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tienen una permeabilidad relativa alta, una fuerza coercitiva baja, se magnetizan y desmagnetizan f\u00e1cilmente y tienen una hist\u00e9resis extremadamente peque\u00f1a. Los materiales ferromagn\u00e9ticos blandos son el hierro y sus diversas aleaciones con materiales como n\u00edquel, cobalto, tungsteno y aluminio. La facilidad de magnetizaci\u00f3n y desmagnetizaci\u00f3n los hace altamente adecuados para aplicaciones que implican flujo magn\u00e9tico variable, como en electroimanes, motores el\u00e9ctricos, generadores, transformadores, inductores, receptores telef\u00f3nicos, rel\u00e9s, etc. Tambi\u00e9n son \u00fatiles para la protecci\u00f3n magn\u00e9tica. Sus propiedades pueden mejorarse considerablemente mediante una fabricaci\u00f3n cuidadosa y calentamiento y recocido lento para lograr un alto grado de pureza cristalina. Un gran momento magn\u00e9tico a temperatura ambiente hace que los materiales ferromagn\u00e9ticos blandos sean extremadamente \u00fatiles para circuitos magn\u00e9ticos, pero los ferromagn\u00e9ticos son muy buenos conductores y sufren p\u00e9rdidas de energ\u00eda por corrientes de Eddy producidas dentro de ellos. Adem\u00e1s, hay p\u00e9rdida de energ\u00eda adicional debido a que la magnetizaci\u00f3n no progresa de manera suave, sino en saltos diminutos. Esta p\u00e9rdida se llama p\u00e9rdida residual magn\u00e9tica y depende puramente de la frecuencia de la densidad de flujo cambiante y no de su magnitud.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.2 Materiales ferromagn\u00e9ticos duros<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tienen una permeabilidad relativamente baja y una fuerza coercitiva muy alta. Son dif\u00edciles de magnetizar y desmagnetizar. Los materiales ferromagn\u00e9ticos duros t\u00edpicos incluyen acero de cobalto y varias aleaciones ferromagn\u00e9ticas de cobalto, aluminio y n\u00edquel. Retienen un alto porcentaje de su magnetizaci\u00f3n y tienen p\u00e9rdidas de hist\u00e9resis relativamente altas. Consisten en part\u00edculas extremadamente finas de un material ferromagn\u00e9tico con alta permeabilidad, y est\u00e1n unidas con una resina adhesiva. La magnetizaci\u00f3n producida en los ferritos es lo suficientemente grande como para tener valor comercial, pero sus saturaciones magn\u00e9ticas no son tan altas como las de los materiales ferromagn\u00e9ticos. Al igual que en el caso de los ferromagn\u00e9ticos, los ferritos pueden ser ferritos blandos o duros.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4.1 Ferritas blandas<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Los imanes de cer\u00e1mica, tambi\u00e9n llamados cer\u00e1micas ferromagn\u00e9ticas, est\u00e1n hechos de \u00f3xido de hierro, Fe2O3, con uno o m\u00e1s \u00f3xidos divalentes como NiO, MnO o ZnO. Estos imanes tienen un ciclo de hist\u00e9resis cuadrado y una alta resistencia y desmagnetizaci\u00f3n, que son valorados en imanes para m\u00e1quinas de computaci\u00f3n donde se desea una alta resistencia.
