Beijing is the earliest industrial base for developing the high-end market of magnetic materials.The five patent factories which Sumitomo Patent in Japan sold first, four of them are located in Beijing. These four factories are the earliest export of high-end application with patent magnetic material.

Ningbo is mainly based on cheap price. And there are many large and small factories. For the Cerium-iron-boron comes out later, Ningbo’s local factories’ price are very low. Someone even sells by weight.

Shanxi’s factories are good at making the cylinder magnet with low cost. But later most factories move out , it now left only small part .

Baotou has benefited from the rare earth raw materials. The government of Baotou is also very awesome. They provide many favorable conditions to attract investment.For example, The one who open the factories there can have discount while purchase the raw material. There are also tax incentives for finished products.

Just around 2008, many machining plants and electroplating plants from Beijing were moved to Baotou. In the early days, Baotou mainly used raw materials and blanks without any machining-processing. It happened to catch up with the wave of dividends and attracted all these people. In recent years, not only blanks have developed rapidly, but processing and electroplating industrial parks have also been formed, and they are constantly expanding their advantages.

In the north ,there are light rare earth. In the south are heavy rare earths, and most of the heavy rare earths are concentrated in Ganzhou. Therefore, Ganzhou also has the advantage of rare earth raw materials and has developed several a number of companies. One of them has developed rapidly and become the second largest in the industry, that is JL MAG.

Sichuan has developed rapidly in recent years, with a large production capacity of 30,000 tons, 50,000 tons, and 100,000 tons. It has great potential in the future, but its competitive advantage in the market is not particularly obvious yet.It still needs time.

Shandong has only several big factories, the small factories provide supporting services to large factories.

Most of the areas in Guangdong are close to customers. There are almost no blank factories there. Most of them are machining plants. They mainly produce electronic products and civilian products.

Companies in the north will have a better understanding of the materials themselves, because most of them are the earliest companies that focus on technology research and development, while many companies in the south are close to customers, and they focus on product applications and services.Their response speed is very fast. So each has its own merits. This is why China’s magnetic materials industry has risen rapidly in these short 20 or 30 years. An industry started from scratch and now accounts for 90% of the world’s application, but this does not mean that we have reached the peak. There is also the 10%, although it is not large, but the other 10% of high-precision products are actually still in countries like Japan. They have a lot of leading positions, which is why we still have room for further progress.
